The Foundation for Belmont Education has awarded Learning Excellence Grants since its inception in 1993. In the mid-1990s, due to the success of fundraising efforts, the Foundation began supporting larger-scale Special Initiative and Professional Development projects that were unable to be funded through the Belmont Public School budget. Beginning in 2006, the Foundation also established a Wish List that enabled supporters to make targeted donations for important items designed by the schools.
